I figure I might as well talk about it, since (I'm guessing) lots of people will be doing the same soon, too.

On the Yahoo group Sentinalia (and others, for all I know) people have been complaining  talking about the websites category being removed.  I'm just an innocent little newbie here, so I don't have all that much to say, but it seems to me that people are making this into a bigger deal than it should be.  Yes, I understand that people want to be included in the awards, and that for some, the only way is through their websites.  However, in my lowly opinion, these awards should be a warm-fuzzy-happy way to show your appreciation for the fandom and its wonderful contributors.  They  shouldn't be about expecting to win, or wanting to win yourself.  If you *do* win, enjoy it, because it's well-deserved, but remember that this should all be about having fun, not about a competition.

*falls off soapbox*

On a lighter note, I am LOVING these awards (it's my first year participating in them), and am happily squeeing as I nominate my faves.

What do you all think?

*smooches to all*

::hugs incredibly insightful and intelligent new TS fan:: I very much like the cut of your jib, my dear. Wordy McWord, with a massive great slice of word pie! :-)

Re: Get used to it, hon.

LOL I guess I should have figured that. It's not all that surprising. Oh well, at least I have my own squeedom from it!

It's lots of fun if you do. :)

(P.S. Schedule @ parents house is changed for this week, I'll be here at my mom's tonight, but at my dad's on Sunday.)

K,

After today's chat I decided to check out the various comments. Yours is short and sweet and to the point. Mine, which I posted over at Bev's is long and drawn out but essentially agrees. I actively participated in the Sentinalia "discussion" if you could call it that. I only wish there really was a place where it could get discussed without rancor.

This is the first time I got so heavily involved in the controversy. I was unhappy with the complainer, since her comments were self-serving and ineffective. She didn't do a thing to find out why the changes had taken place and she also seemed quite determined that she was going to not change herself at all and wanted the LMFAs to bend to her thinking. Quite a sense of entitlement I thought.

I hope this doesn't deter you from seeing the LMFAs for what they are -- a fun way to pay homage to your favorite authors and stories. In this fandom where on any day you can find dozens of stories to read, it's easy to consume them without remembering to send the author some good feedback. Nominating stories here is a form of feedback, albeit anonymously, that should give every author a sense of pride. And it's fun!

Thanks for offering a place for me to set up my own soap box!

You can set up your soapbox here anytime, hon! *g*

*huggles you*

And you're right, the awards *are* fun. I wish that everyone could see that. ♥
