So, yeah.  I am bored and nosy, so what I want to ask is how you get your fics betaed.  Do you have one person who regularly betas for you?  Have you joined a list?  What works for you?

I've just joined sentinel_betas on squidge, and I'm hoping that works out for me when I'm ready with another fic.

Feed my curiosity and tell me all!  :-)

*smooches to all*

P.S. If anyone's ever interested, I absolutely love everyone on my friends list, and would be mega-grateful to have any of you beta for me!!

I have several different people who beta for me, but they're all usually on my flist. I usually just post an entry, saying, "Hey, I need a beta, it's this fandom, this pairing, this length, help!" and usually someone will come to my rescue...*g*

I tend to ask my flist for beta help. Well I do now, I never used to before when I first got started in fandom. I was too scared to ask people, mainly because I was afraid no one would like what I had written. I got over that fear though, eventually.

cool. so far, it seems that asking your f-list is the most popular way to get a beta. The only problem for me, though, is that I don't really know too many of the people on my f-list all that well.

I've never asked my flist for a beta, but it does work for others. I'm sure sentinel betas would help you find someone too. You could also check out [livejournal.com profile] ts_writers. I have one beta that I use and in fact, she's who got me into writing fanfic, so for me it was sort of a case of the cart coming before the horse. Most of the stuff I write as maaaaa is short, so I usually only have her beta the long stuff or something that's a little outside my usual comfort zone. I do write under another name and I do have her beta every one of those fics. As for me beta-ing? Nope, I'm a lousy beta. Good luck, sweetie. *smooch*

That's a sweet deal. :D *sends thanks to the wonderful woman who got Maaaaa into writing*

Thanks! *smooch back*

I don't really know what a beata is supposed to do? ^^'''
Maybe you could tell me...
but if you like me to take a look at one of your fics, just glomp me..! xD *smooch*

betas help you out with your stories. some only do certain things, like spelling and grammar, others will help you with the stoy itself, like with the plot, and character development, etc. It all depends on what you need, really. :D I'll glomp you anytime! *g*

I have someone who checks my writing for any unintended Britishisms, but my other beta reader has been far too busy with real life for some time now. So um...my stories aren't beta read for grammar/punctuation any more. :o(

Aw, that's too bad! It's so annoying when RL interferes, isn't it? LMAO
